I see a few issues with the “Smart dust” narrative. Within antenna theory there is a need for the ideal antenna to be of on order approaching the length of the wavelength used for communication. By having literally thousands of these dust particles they could be communicating within the near-field or they could use infrared. But in reality i do not think they would use smart dust for the simple fact of reverse engineering by competitors/enemies? Any fool with an optical microscope would be able to see them clearly and once identified it could be placed under further scrutiny by EM and XRAY methods. They could make them dis-solvable i guess. The massive chunk of silicon in most peoples pockets is about all that is needed. If you want small Ryan go psychology, that sh*t’s all in the mind.
I see there are some who are doing their best to minimize the issue of “smart dust”, which is actually old nanotechnology. Nanoparticles are not visible to the eye like the old image of a speck of dust on the tip of a finger shows. Neuroscientists developed nanobots that can be injected, inhaled, and absorbed. They station themselves inside the brain and the nervous system. There are numerous scientific reports on this subject.
The micro and nano development/delivery platforms are entirely different beasts’. Smart dust implies a level of inherent visual availability. The issues with communication as most understand it remains valid for both arenas. Simple EMR responses require carefully controlled laboratory conditions unless the application is broad brush. IR/Optical switches are the only practical method and that is point to point. There are real world factors that inhibit the creation of meshed networks with these devices. It is possible but the “dust” density would need to be at some minimum density. Saying “smart dust is actually old nanotechnology” is like saying “smoke rings are actually old mobile phone technology”. Language and psychological technology is old nanotechnology. Psychology and language stations itself “of” the brain and determines how you interpret the nervous system and the world. There is nothing in the scientific literature on psychology as a tool for manipulation. Live in fear of that which you can not see and do not understand. Fear and ignorance are tools of wonder 😀
*language and psychology are not even material so rather than “of the brain”, it is “of the mind”. Very much why philosophy is the prima materia.

The “scientific community” believes that “nanotechnology and AI” will give them the ability to attain immortality, to save themselves. Enter the search terms “nanotechnology and AI” if you don’t believe this. YouTube, for example, has many videos concerning their works. There is only one Way to enter into true eternal life and this is not attainable through man’s scientific efforts.
