1. Thank You Ryan for high-lighting the deportation topic and the denial of constitutional rights and habeas corpus. You are right, there is a lot of “gaslighting” going on (not just about Garcia)…here is another perspective that the MSM ignores: (this is a long comment – in 3 parts -so please bear with me)

   President Bukele is presented to us like a “tough-on-crime” hero and Trump said during their meeting that “he is doing a great job”
   San Salvador was known (for a long time) as the “murder-capital” of the world but Bukele is being credited for having brought down the homicide rate and for enabling mass-arrests of alleged gang-members under “emergency rules” and imprisonment in CECOT where they are treated so harshly that the power of MS-13 (to control the gang members outside) has seemingly been broken.
   But what role has Bukele really played in this charade? If we take a closer look a very different picture emerges:

   On February 23, 2023 the DOJ announced that “13 of the highest-ranking MS-13 leaders in the world are being indicted for directing the organization’s criminal activities in the United States, El Salvador, Mexico, and elsewhere, over the past two decades”. …“As set forth in court filings, the 13 defendants are part of MS-13’s command and control structure, consisting of the Ranfla Nacional, Ranfla en Las Calles, and Ranfla en Los Penales, and play significant leadership roles in the organization’s operations in El Salvador, Mexico, the United States and throughout the world.
   In the related case of United States v. Henriquez, et al., a grand jury in the Eastern District of New York previously indicted 14 members of the Ranfla Nacional, who functioned as MS-13’s “Board of Directors.” Formal extradition packages were submitted by the United States for 12 of those defendants, who either are or were in El Salvador custody, and remain pending. The two other defendants, Fredy Ivan JANDRES-PARAD, also known as “Lucky de Park View” and “Lacky de Park View,” and Cesar Humberto LOPEZ-LARIOS, also known as “El Grenas de Stoners” and “Oso de Stoners,” still are fugitives.
   …in 2021 and 2022, the United States requested the EXTRADITION of 11 co-defendants, including Borromeo Enrique HENRIQUEZ, also known as “Diablito de Hollywood,” who is widely recognized as the most powerful member of the Ranfla Nacional. … For the first time, MS-13 was charged with “conspiracy to commit acts of Terrorism and to provide material support to terrorists” transcending national boundaries.
   In a January 2021 statement, then-US Attorney General Jeffrey A. Rosen described the charges against them as “the highest-reaching and most sweeping indictment targeting MS13 and its command and control structure in US history.”

2. Part 2
   Trump, the DOJ and the DHS have told reporters (with feigned outrage ) that they have “no jurisdiction” in El Salvador and that they could not possibly infringe on the sovereignty of this nation by asking them to release Abrego-Garcia, a Salvadorian citizen (or any other wrongfully deported individual).
   We already knew that this is a lie because the US embassy in El Salvador could simply use diplomacy to achieve that goal but it is pretty obvious that they do not want anybody sent to CECOT to come back to the US. But a letter from the DOJ contains important information:

   Doc 18 is a letter (dated April 4, 2022) to the Judge from the DOJ providing a Status Update for 14 MS-13 leaders which had been indicted on January 14, 2021 in the Eastern District of New York. They are all “board members” of the Ranfla Nacional, the highest level of MS-13 and have the power to direct transnational criminal operations.
   The letter tells us that there is an EXTRADITION TREATY between the US and El Salvador (from 1911) and so the USG sent a request to the SG to extradite one the leaders (QUINTEROS-MINEROS) and the 11 other Ranfla Nacional defendants in its custody. The result (after more than a year passed):
   “To date (April 2022) the Supreme Court has not ruled on the eleven formal extradition requests.”

   And we know why: Bukele’s “super majority” in the legislature had PURGED the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of its five members, as well as REMOVED the attorney general (violating the constitution of El Salvador); since then the “cooperation between the Bukele administration and U.S. agencies investigating MS-13 had deteriorated after the Nuevas Ideas party took control of the legislature in May 2021 and illegally instated Attorney General Rodolfo Delgado”.
   “Melara’s removal and replacement with Delgado was one of the reasons cited by the State Department in June 2021 in sanctioning top legal advisor and Bukele confidant Conan Castro. In including him in the Engel List, the United States wrote that Castro “undermined democratic processes or institutions by assisting in the inappropriate removal of five Supreme Court Magistrates and the Attorney General.” (Source: see the link to the El Faro article below).
   But the Bukele government not only showed no interest in cooperating with the DOJ to enable the extradition of these “most wanted” MS-13 members to the US but they made a mockery of the justice system by RELEASING four of these very dangerous criminals:

   “While, as set forth above, twelve of the Ranfla Nacional defendants were in El Salvador’s custody at one point, the government further updates the Court that numerous media outlets in El Salvador and other sources of information have reported that the GOES [government of el Salvador] RELEASED four of the indicted defendants, CANALES-RIVERA, QUINTEROS-MINEROS, CORTEZ, and ERAZO-NOLASCO, notwithstanding that INTERPOL Red Notices were lodged and the United States submitted formal extradition requests, which remain pending”. 3. PART 3

   Many people are wondering how Bukele managed to drastically reduce the homicide incidence in El Salvador and get re-elected with a huge majority. It should be obvious by now that his complicity with MS-13 played a key role in his “success”.

   In a newly unsealed indictment, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) asserted that, as part of the accords with the Mara Salvatrucha, the current government of El Salvador protected gang members wanted for CRIMES in the United States by skirting their extradition or even releasing one of them from prison before he had finished his sentence. …“The Ranfla Nacional [highest gang echelon] demanded that the government of El Salvador refuse to extradite MS-13 leaders, including the Ranfla Nacional, to the United States for prosecution,” the prosecutors wrote. “In exchange, the MS-13 leaders agreed to reduce the number of public murders in El Salvador, which politically benefited the government of El Salvador, by creating the PERCEPTION that the government was reducing the murder rate.”
   …The prosecutors also noted that the government freed leader Élmer Canales Rivera, also known as “Crook,” despite decades of outstanding prison time and a formal U.S. extradition request. The indictment asserts that Crook and two other leaders of the gang conducted the negotiations with the Bukele administration.

   On Tuesday, El Faro asked a Justice Department official if, in light of these assertions, the U.S. government considers the Bukele administration to be a COLLABORATOR with the gangs. “The language of the indictment speaks for itself,” the official said. “What I can say is that in a number of situations the government of El Salvador has cooperated with the gangs.”
   …it is a grand jury and the DOJ who assert that the meetings with MS-13 “were organized by the government of El Salvador and prison officials,” pointing directly to Director of Prisons Osiris Luna and the director of the Social Fabric Secretariat, Carlos Marroquín, named in the indictment by their positions rather than their names.

   “There is an overwhelming amount of evidence that Bukele’s administration negotiated with MS13 and 18th Street in El Salvador. We would be able to demonstrate that that occurred,” said the official interviewed by El Faro. “You have to look at the organization from top down, and at where it gets its power and financial support. There is no way …that you can effectively combat MS-13 without also looking at their political connections

4. sorry – there is even a “PART 4”

   Fast forward to March 2025:

   While media attention about the deportations is focused on the case of Abrego-Garcia (rightly so; most of the other habeas cases were filed anonymously) the fact that on one of the first flights to El Salvador were two of the highest MS-13 leaders (from “the command and control structure” mentioned in the indictments above) has completely disappeared “from the radar”. Here is El Faro again:

   23 members of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), including two leaders accused of acts of terrorism in the United States, were sent by the Donald Trump administration to El Salvador in the early hours of March 16. .. All were transported to the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) …as confirmed by President Bukele and Rubio on social media.
   In order to send one of them, veteran gang member César Antonio López Larios, alias “Greñas de Stoners”, one of the top leaders of the Salvadoran criminal organization, the Eastern District of New York, in charge of prosecuting 27 MS-13 leaders, waived Larios’ indictment , in favour of his trial in El Salvador,

   “Due to geopolitical and national security reasons of the United States, and the sovereign authority of the Executive Branch in international affairs, the United States is dismissing the indictment against the defendant without prejudice, so that El Salvador can proceed first with its criminal charges against the defendant under Salvadoran law,” wrote prosecutor John Durham.

   A very dangerous criminal (charged with conspiracy for aggravated homicide and terrorism (US) in several cases) who was sentenced to “143 years in prison” in 2019 (but after Bukele took over) he was released in October 2020: …“Bukele had been president for just over a year when Larios was released from Zacatecoluca.” (El Faro)
   In addition to REFUSING to extradite the “most wanted” MS-13 criminals to the US (for 4 years) the Bukele government also has no intention of “bringing to justice” the leaders of this dangerous gang. Instead Bukele publishes martial video clips on X (like trailers of a Hollywood action-movie which show the prisoners being dragged from a plane, heads bowed down, manhandled by masked “security” guys accompanied by drum beats…) and offers (controlled) “sight-seeing” tours to CECOT for journalists but only the “small fish” are being fried, while the “sharks” disappear into the shadows:

   “Since the state of exception was declared, NO images or videos have emerged of the whereabouts of the MS-13 LEADERS allegedly imprisoned in El Salvador, despite the fact that the Bukele government has released images of hundreds of captured and tattooed gang members. (El Faro)

   We are more than being ”gaslit” here, Ryan …this is a huge deception, a morality charade of the worst kind … Trump is going after harmless immigrants (who have committed no crime and are denied due process) en masse – portraying them as a collective threat – but then they DISMISS the prosecution of the REAL and WORST MS-13 criminals by transporting them back to El Salvador where they can go on controlling their criminal networks (even when imprisoned) aided and abetted by a corrupt government… These MS-13 “veterans” could reveal some nasty stuff about the #QueBonitaDictadura government (and possible CIA involvement) in a US court so their deportation to El Salvador means a huge sigh of relief for Bukele and his cronies.

   Ex injuria jus non oritur …. (not a motto the US respects)
