While Rex Tillerson, Nikki Haley, Heather Nauert, and Emmanuel Macron as well as the entirety of the Western corporate media focus on phantom chemical attacks, none of the above have even mentioned the terrorist shelling of Damascus (Bab Touma area) which has resulted in the death of nine people, most of whom were children and teens.
On January 22, mortars began falling on the Bab Touma area of Damascus just as the children were heading home from school. In addition to the nine killed, another twenty-one were seriously injured, one teenage girl having her legs so heavily damaged that the doctors were trying to save them and avoid amputation at the time of the reporting.
Despite constant harping on the death of any civilian that could attributed to accidental or incidental bombing of terrorists by Russia or the Syrian government, the West has remained quiet as a mouse whenever civilians are intentionally targeted by Western-backed terrorists. Instead, the American and Western public is subject to hearing about “the regime’s chemical weapons attacks” which do not exist (much like the “regime’s chemical weapons”) and how Bashar al-Assad is “killing his own people,” a myth debunked so many times my eyes now gloss over whenever I type it.
Journalist Vanessa Beeley was in the general vicinity when the attacks took place, having just left Bab Touma ten minutes before. She writes,
We were leaving Bab Touma this afternoon just as the schools finished for the afternoon, around 1.30pm. The streets were teeming with children of all ages, laughing and talking excitedly as they headed for the many school buses waiting for them. The car horns echoed around the streets from the impatient drivers packed into the narrow, cobbled streets.
It was wonderful to see all the colours of their coats and school bags. It was a warm day, the sun was bright and heightened the colour & clamour from these children. One little girl walked past the car giggling with her friend, her smile broke her face in two, it was so broad and expressive.
As we turned left towards Bab Sharki gate to leave the Old City..the children were still pouring onto the streets, walking hand in hand in front of the car, taking their time, gossiping & laughing in the sunshine.
About 10 minutes after we left the Old City gates, death struck these children in Bab Touma and Qasaa. Terrorists from East Ghouta fired mortars into these areas murdering 9 innocent children & adults. One young girl who survived the blast has had her leg amputated below the knee. She was a “lucky one”.
Another young girl, Rita Eid (in the photo) was murdered…her father Nidal owns Ghassani supermarket where friends of mine buy their groceries.
Death stalks everyone in these streets every day. The smiles I saw just before the mortars rained down may have been crushed beneath the rubble. A child who left for school this morning, full of excitement, may never come back.
What did these children do? How can it ever be called a “revolution” when these monsters in East Ghouta deliberately fire mortars into an area brimming with schoolchildren. It is a systematic massacre of Syrian civilians being carried out by the terrorists the US Coalition-of-terror finance, arm & paint as “freedom fighters”.
Where are these missiles coming from? How are these terrorists receiving supplies to manufacture bombs, yet claim they are starving?
As a dear friend said to me, “from the names of the dead and injured, over 80% are Christian, this is such a small community, everyone knows each other… ”
How much longer will we passively support what our governments are inflicting upon the Syrian people?
In her article, “Ghouta ‘Moderates’ Slaughter 9 In Damascus Neighborhood,” Syrian journalist and researcher Afraa Dagher also reported on the event writing,
How many martyrs from our innocent people should we lose? How many healthy people should be made disabled because of western weapons transported to the terrorists, to please those bloodthirsty warmongers of the west, and Arab Gulf?
Yesterday and due to terrorists in Al Ghouta shelling the old city Bab Touma district in Damascus, there were 9 martyrs. Twenty-one were injured, many critically. Damage was caused to public buildings and people’s homes.
Three year old Elias Khory was martyred.
Rita Nedal was about 15 years old when Al Ghouta terrorists killed her.
Teen Mohamed Zafer was murdered.
This is Christine Hourani. Yesterday Syrian surgeons were working to save her legs, to prevent them from being amputated.
Most of the martyrs were children; the terrorists chose the time of their bombings to be when school let out.
Among the adult casualties was Majida Nasser.
Mr. Khaled Al Sakka was head of the Al Mohaysinieha school.
Many other poor civilians have no guilt but to be living in a country which is under a global war since 2011!
Moreover a beautiful school girl was happy to live her normal life God granted it to her, may lose her legs because of these terrorists’ mortar shells on this suburb!
It’s not the first time; it is the way the ‘moderates’ in Syria have been expressing their will of democracy and freedom in Syria since 2011!
How to end war in Syria?! Just stop arming the western and Saudi proxies in Syria, just stop reselling terrorists in every place in our countryside, and in Idlib; just keep your hands out of Syria?!
Eight years of war and sanction, blood and death.
Who would stand such life? Would you imagine the life of your kids under such situations?!
Stop murdering Syrians by arming moderate terrorists!
As has been the case since the beginning of the war, some victims are more equal than others. More accurately put, fake or exploited chemical weapons victims are infinitely more valuable than the victims of real mortar attacks by terrorists. While the Western corporate media can feign outrage and sadness over staged or exploited chemical weapons victims, it refuses to even comment on the heartless intentional slaughter of innocent men, women, and children by Western-backed terrorists.
