The Instigation Of War: Is The US Provoking A Russian War For Profit?

“War against a foreign country only happens when the moneyed classes think they are going to profit from it.” –George Orwell

With tensions continuing to rise between the world’s super powers, due in large part to US foreign policy, many are beginning to bear down and prepare for the next decade of “spreading democracy.” It might seem an outlandish concept to consider that a nation would intentionally instigate war, yet the right motivation can create many circumstances that might not otherwise come to pass. For example, one might wonder why any nation would desire war-time at all, and the answer is always the same: money. Money and control are the driving forces guiding those who have usurped this hopeful republic in lieu of the American Empire.

War-time is a very profitable time for any nation. It should come as no surprise to most that the US makes more money in war-time than any other country. The 2013 arms production database of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute shows that 40 of the top 100 arms-producing companies in the world are based in the United States, with Lockheed Martin and Boeing being the biggest of the bunch. According to that same database, the US spent $640 billion on its military in 2013, with China at a distant second with $180 billion. This should easily dispel the ridiculous notion that we somehow need to “rebuild our military” or “make our military great again.”

War is such a profitable enterprise, that many private corporations one wouldn’t expect have found their way into the business of defending the nation, at least in some regard. One might never guess that Federal Express is one of the larger US defense contractors. It is said that as many as one in four Americans service the defense industry. That is a shockingly high percentage of Americans who have been swept up into the business of war, many unwittingly so.

Currently, the US in the midst of what would appear to be an outright attempt to goad Vladamir Putin into  rejuvenating the cold war, which, point of fact, was a very prosperous time in American history. It stands to reason that the American ruling elite would do all within their power to bring the dollar back from the depths to which it has reached by way of war-time profiteering, or what has clearly become the American way.

The US has become the very embodiment of what this nation was founded to prevent; and that is not due to its founding ideals, but rather to a group of determined, morally ambiguous men with their motivation drawing directly from their own ambition, and with their sights set acutely on overthrowing the nation, yet in a way that would not draw the attention of the increasingly apathetic American populace.

“War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people.

Only a small ‘inside’ group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.”

-United States Marine Corps Major General Smedley D. Butler – excerpt from “War is a Racket
