The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education. – Martin Luther King, Jr.
The United States once led the world in many categories, one of which is held in high regard by any industrialized nation, and that is education. Even to this day, many still hold the false belief that the United States produces the best and brightest in the world, and it no doubt produces some such innovators, in spite of the downward spiraling system it has in place for the average American family, however, the United States is currently ranked 14th in education, falling behind such countries as Russia, Poland, and South Korea.
The public school system in this country is under attack by those who wish to turn education into yet another booming industry, for the profit of the select few in control. Effectively turning education, that which should be one of the most important and valued aspects of any youth’s upbringing, into a for-profit system, specifically targeting and excluding those who can no longer afford to be educated, sentencing them to the life of a modern-day serf in the rising American empire.
From strict standardization, stifling any creative or innovative thinking, to intentional manipulation of “facts” to produce only authorized historical information, creating a vast divide between what other nations know to be the true history of the world, and the white-washed Americanized version, the education system we currently have in place is designed to produce a standardized version of humanity, so to be better controlled and more easily influenced.
A strong education system is the life blood of any nation’s future, and this nation’s future has been hijacked.
