Welcome to The Daily Wrap Up, a concise show dedicated to bringing you the most relevant independent news, as we see it, from the last 24 hours (4/20/18).
On this wonderful April 20th I want to begin by pointing out what it was that originally caused me to create The Last American Vagabond, the issue that truly woke me up, if you will, and that was cannabis, the government propaganda around it, what that had done to our society and the selfish and deceptive reasons behind all of it.
The site started as a side-project, just somewhere for me to express my ideas and point out what I was seeing, primarily focused around cannabis law reform and awareness, as well as the blatant manipulation and deception that had kept so many Americans in the dark for so long. And not only about its miraculous medical properties, but its industrial and recreational possibilities.
The more I dove into this topic, the more it opened my eyes to so many other injustices and deceptions happening right in front of us, many that are now becoming common knowledge. I have always maintained that the current revolution of the mind began with, or at the very least was catalyzed by, the marijuana movement. I have always felt that this movement had to do with so much more than just cannabis; that people saw something in this movement, a way to address so many other injustices, inequalities and volition of rights, and chose to use this movement to build on, use its righteous foundation to create the kind of awareness we are seeing today.
Whether the cannabis revolution itself was what caused it all, or it was simply a byproduct of something already taking place, or even just fluke, it certainly awakened me to many other things, and for that I will always see the rise in marijuana awareness as being about so much more than just cannabis. For that reason, among many others, I hope everyone is out enjoying this wonderfully rebellious holiday and embracing the air of success we should all feel in recognizing that the current state of marijuana legality, regardless of Sessions’ babbling reefer madness idiocy, is at a place that many of us never thought we would see. That is all because the people came together and stood against the very powerful Federal Government, went toe to toe with a seemingly insurmountable force, and made them back down, simply due to the fact that the vast majority was on the same page — and that has to resonate with us. When we truly come together, there is nothing we cannot do. Which is why in just about every regard today, the people are being intentionally divided, so as to stop such a movement from ever happening again. But even that is still within our power to stop, we just have to recognize it.
So even while you are out today celebrating this well-deserved victory, remember that the fight is only just beginning, as some are still hurt by this oppressive and archaic stance on cannabis everyday. So we must keep pushing forward and remember, that despite them doing all within their power to stop us from us from seeing it, at the end of the day, political parties, race, ethnicity, gender, all of it aside, we are fighting for the same things.
