Today the Independent Media Alliance (IMA) brings you a panel focusing on artificial intelligence and the many ways that it is influencing or entirely changing research and investigation, as well as the world at large. There are many powerful benefits that can come from utilizing AI in research and very serious concerns many of us share about the potential downsides to its use as well. We will be taking an objective look at both the concerns and benefits. Far too many seem to be taking the responses of AI chat bots at face value, with little or no interrogation, due to those behind their creation. Others will outright dismiss a data point due to its AI origin with no further investigation, for the same reason. Today we will discuss how this tool is being used, how it may be influencing those who use it, and whether this AI future is indeed inevitable.

Look upon narrative as an analogy to a game of chess.
Those with the best A.I. tools will dominate the chess board, (the “collective conscious”).
There is no future where A.I. is not dominating the narrative provided these tools continue to exists.
You may well create self sufficient communities, but there is no such thing as an isolated system.
All can be digitised and twinned in network modelling and exploited to some end.
The Increasing disparity in access to technology and knowledge will continue to lead to increasing disparity in wealth and comfort.
If the world remains as a capitalist “democracy” then it remains in ignorance and will continue to feed tyrannical oversight.
Global culture needs to align with an economy that rewards knowledge exchange, to foster such, but A.I. tools remain a threat even more so in such instance.
Silicon valley and the Military/Medical/Industrial complex has been allowed to have a monopoly on technical knowledge, (just as the NSA has been allowed to have a monopoly on information awareness A.K.A. conscious awareness)
Why did anyone ever think this was a good idea??? Give a few closed networks all the Knowledge and make them privy to every insight and… good things will happen??? was that the thinking???
One thinks we need new thinking.
Take “capitalist “democracy”” to mean a capitalist society where all have equal standing in the eyes of a legal framework(a fallacy of course)
The most important reason to not use AI is the ENVIRONMENTAL COST. The in-depth Wired investigation on the enviornmental impact of IoT has disappeared from the interwebs. However, The Highwire just released an excellent short video about how the Tech Sector is now demanding the mass installation of nuclear reactors in order to be able to provide sufficient power for the A.I. , IoT, Surveillance and Data Collection Grid. https://thehighwire.com/ark-videos/ai-is-draining-the-grid-and-your-rights/ We are headed for a very uncertain situation in the near term. Expect your local power grid to become rather unreliable until enough nuclear reactors have come into service. Personally I’m rabidly against nuclear reactors. The reactor in Fukushima STILL hasn’t been brought under control and is STILL spewing radioactive wastewater into the Pacific. How else are you going to be able to provide enough power? There isn’t a way to do it. Why doesn’t the future of Planet Earth matter anymore? Why do we need this more than clean air and water? Why do we need this more than fresh salmon? Why do we need this more than unpolluted oceans? Why do we need this? The real question is: what are you willing to sacrifice to have the luxury of A.I. at your fingertips?
Awesome independant movie everyone needs to watch on the eve of A.I., called “Absolute Denial” : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13496358
Will get you thinking. It has been removed from youtube but i have seen it free on the interwebs and also available for online rental
