Welcome to The Daily Wrap Up, a concise show dedicated to bringing you the most relevant independent news, as we see it, from the last 24 hours (5/3/18).
More than ever I feel that the groups to which the mainstream media are preaching, are a very small faction of Americans, still clinging to the false hope that these legalized propaganda channels they watch, and their respective political masters, are righteous and altruistic, while being willfully ignorant of all the evidence to the contrary. It is more clear than ever that these mainstream channels are simply megaphones for both sides of the two-party deception to yell their points at one another. Which is why all we see on these channels are whatever partisan topics help progress their argument, while ignoring what the real majority actually wants to hear. It is simply petty tabloid news, they could literally superimpose the Kardashians or some movie star break-up feud, and not miss a beat. That is not to say they never cover important topics, or that the smut they often cover is not occasionally newsworthy; but very rarely is it ever what is most important, which is what they frequently claim — with no lack of hubris — to be delivering on a regular basis.
I think they know the majority is either disgusted by them or outright ignoring them, and they no longer care, as they have shown us many times, that what the American people want, the actual majority, no longer plays even the smallest part in the process. Most Americans are eager to know more about what their government is carrying out overseas in their name, and what’s going on with Iran and Israel, as the US is directly tied to that outcome in more ways than one.
Most Americans what to know more about our very own legislation here in this country that seemingly gets zero coverage (save for independent media) such as the new bipartisan AUMF that will basically allow unlimited unilateral war power to who ever sits in the White House. Which is not much different from what we see today, only it will be written into law, and this bill will also allow US citizens to be imprisoned in military detention indefinitely on the personal whim of one man, with no further Congressional approval. That seems pretty important to me. What about follow up, of any kind, in regard to Syria, and how all that the US government has stated, and all the flimsy justifications it gave to carry out an open attack on a sovereign nation, have completely fallen apart?
Instead we see petty partisan rivalries that consume their news feed. I think it is well past time we begin to acknowledge that not only is the mainstream media dead, but it is the living dead, it is the “Weekend At Bernie’s” version of daily news, being propped up with government strings and false impressions of who is actually paying attention. It is time that each of you go out and declare unafraid that you do not watch, believe in or trust in any way, any of these mainstream outlets. That’s not to say that there are not a few figures here and there who may not be completely lost, and many of you no doubt know who I mean, only that the stations themselves are long gone. So speak out and make your stance known, and maybe, we can get more to follow suit: #IAmNotPartOfTheFalseMajority
I have not discussed this “fear porn” topic that has been circulating about Bill Gates’ doomsday disease prediction, as Gates has very clear intentions and agendas behind his fear mongering. The ideas of a massive disease or threat of overpopulation are very real possibilities, as we have known for a very long time, so this is really nothing new. Yet we should be asking why this is suddenly being forced into our consciousness. And Gates is pushing one very specific fix, vaccines. Big surprise.
The point I want to make, is one I often do, that as we have known about super bugs that are resistant to our drugs due to our frivolous and irresponsible use of antibiotics with cattle and everyday life, all to benefit Big Pharma, or any number of profiteering reasons that we look the other way while chugging full steam ahead toward certain disaster, we look to create a fix, a patch to a problem born of negligence and greed, instead of simply looking to address the problem. We need to be seeking out its root cause and changing our ways before it’s too late. But no, let’s just create another vaccine, or genetically modify ourselves so our created problems no longer bother us, until the next one that is.
This real problem is individuals like those who purposefully refuse to address the actual issue, because it would require actual change, in a way from which they cannot profit nor control. So as we see cries of impeding doom and disaster, true or not, look to the motive behind their disingenuous solution, as well as their direct connection to the problem. Look inward and ask yourself what you can do on a daily basis to change your small corner of the world in ways that may actually address the problem — as opposed to simply masking it with an immediate and uncertain fix that it, in and of itself, is also another potential future problem.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has issued an assessment Tuesday addressing Israeli allegations of a “secret” Iranian nuclear program. The UN watchdog says there are “no credible indications” of any Iranian activities after 2009.
Netanyahu tried to present old research, and then conclude that more secret activities were ongoing. The IAEA, however, has a level of access within Iran unrivaled by any other safeguards agreement in the world. That access means claims of a whole additional secret program are simply not credible.
Just last month, the State Department once again issued a report declaring that “Iran continued to fulfill its nuclear-related commitments” under the JCPOA following an ongoing pattern of the State Department even under the watch of Rex Tillerson, who essentially forced Trump to certify Iran’s compliance. Secretary of Defense James “Mad Dog” Mattis has also said Iran is “fundamentally” in compliance with the nuclear agreement.
According to the Atlantic’s Peter Beinart:
“The more interesting question isn’t whether Iran has been complying with the nuclear deal. It’s whether America has. American journalists often describe the agreement as a trade. In the words of one CNN report, it ‘obliges Iran to limit its nuclear program in exchange for the suspension of economic sanctions.’ But there’s more to it than that. The deal doesn’t only require the United States to lift nuclear sanctions. It requires the United States not to inhibit Iran’s reintegration into the global economy. Section 26 commits the U.S. (and its allies) ‘to prevent interference with the realisation of the full benefit by Iran of the sanctions lifting specified’ in the deal. Section 29 commits the U.S. and Europe to ‘refrain from any policy specifically intended to directly and adversely affect the normalisation of trade and economic relations with Iran.’ Section 33 commits them to ‘agree on steps to ensure Iran’s access in areas of trade, technology, finance and energy.’”
As Beinart explains further:
“The Trump administration has likely been violating these clauses. The Washington Post reported that at a NATO summit last May, ‘Trump tried to persuade European partners to stop making trade and business deals with Iran.’ Then, in July, Trump’s director of legislative affairs boasted that at a G20 summit in Germany, Trump had ‘underscored the need for nations … to stop doing business with nations that sponsor terrorism, especially Iran.’ Both of these lobbying efforts appear to violate America’s pledge to ‘refrain from any policy specifically intended to directly and adversely affect the normalisation of trade and economic relations with Iran.’”
We are not talking about whether Iran is right or whether they are a good and moral country, we are simply talking about this deal and who is upholding their end. And within the perimeters of this deal, the US is the one clearly violating it.
As the author writes:
Iran is in compliance with the JCPOA but the U.S. isn’t. Does the U.S. abide by its own rules, or should it be held to the same standards that the world has held Iran ransom to for decades?
It is nothing short of extraordinary that the only country to have ever used nuclear weapons can be the one violating an international agreement all while it consistently demonizes another state for allegedly violating the very same agreement. Why is it that the U.S. can violate the JCPOA with no consequence but Iran is demonized even as it continues to comply with it?
Despite the factual evidence pointing to the contrary, the United States and many of its allies have failed to target Saudi Arabia for its role in fomenting terror and have erroneously labeled Iran the “top state sponsor of terror,” a title that all evidence indicates belongs to the Saudis. The recent ruling against Iran comes as little surprise, given that the judge who oversaw the case, George Daniels, previously ordered Iran to pay $10 billion in damages to the families of 9/11 victims in 2016 — on the basis that Iran had failed to provide evidence that it did not aid the perpetrators of the infamous terrorist attack. Yes, you read that correctly, that Iran had failed to provide evidence that it did not aid the perpetrators. So I guess in this case, despite all the evidence pointing toward Saudi Arabia, and due to the Saudi lobbyists working overtime, the burden of proof was on Iran to prove that the didn’t do it. Sure sounds like the American justice system to me.
Two journalists have today filed federal court cases in the United States to challenge their inclusion on a classified US “Kill List.” Bilal Abdul Kareem, an American citizen and journalist working in Syria, escaped being killed by drone strike on five occasions, including two strikes on cars he was traveling in. Two additional strikes were executed on his independent news agency, On the Ground News, while he was working in the studio.
Ahmad Zaidan, a senior reporter with Al Jazeera has appeared in a top secret SKYNET document, a US computer programme which has classified him as an Al-Qaeda courier based on “metadata”. Zaidan was the first person to interview Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda’s former leader in the 1990s.
Jennifer Gibson, head of Reprieve’s drones project, said:
“The executive should not be allowed to act as judge, jury and executioner unchecked. In a country founded on the rule of law, these men have a right to challenge the government’s decision to kill them.”
According to a parter at Lewis Baac Kaufman Middlemiss PLLC:
“The government has acknowledged that it maintains a ‘Kill List’ of suspected terrorists, and that there is a process to determine who should be included on that list,” which is largely due a collection of metadata and not personal due diligence. “The plaintiffs were incorrectly placed on the kill list. They have the right to make the case that the government got it wrong,”
A group of 18 GOP lawmakers led by Rep. Luke Messer of Indiana, have signed a letter formally nominating President Trump for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.
I guess drone bombing entire generations out of existence is now a prerequisite to being considered for the Nobel Peace Prize. This should just serve to demonstrate how truly ridiculous things have become. And that has nothing to do with how I personally feel about Donald Trump as a person. Simply addressing the facts, nominating Trump, or Obama for that matter, is absolutely absurd when considering what that award is supposed to represent. It has long since been anything other than a political tool, however, used to progress one agenda or another, but it is not meant to be given to those who openly progress wars of aggression under the guise of peace. And even if one feels that what Trump has done was not some ruse, but a true effort for good, “peace” does mean bombing into submission, or flexing military strength until your enemies concede while ignoring far worse crimes of your allies.. it means advocating for peace in the truest sense of the word, by living it. And that is not what Trump or Obama carried out.
