Brilliant interview – thanks both for everything you’re doing – keep going! 🙂
Good talk! Good points. Always good to add to the think tank.
IMO, you both are underestimating peoples ability to be blind/unaware/unable to perceive and conceive.
Took me till 11-12 years old to realize that most people had beliefs, which builds editors in their minds, that block input and output, and color input and output, of all information…to make it fit their beliefs. This is more that willful ignorance, which is distasteful.
Steve is correct in attempting to trick a believer to put facts together so that maybe they will think past their editors. This isn’t simply about intelligence either. Belief is foolish and the cause of cognitive dissonance, and split personality too IMO.
A truth seeker must always be prepared to lay down obsolete ideas and adopt better understandings, as they come, or as they find them. IMO believers can not be truth seekers.
You are lucky Ryan, being in contact daily with truth seekers, truth tellers, independent journalists, etc…. I think though, this has given you an exaggerated view of human awareness LOL.
I have wondered for decades about how to get people to think critically, who prefer to believe, and not really think, who do not want to know. Steve is correct. We need to sort of trick believers, to connect a couple dots here and there. They have to fire their own editors though, if/when they realize they have an editor.
If only Steve Kirsch had run microsoft instead of the mantid.. .. ..
