  1. It’s okay to administer electric shocks to children?!? (1:15:00) It’s not okay for animals, either, but we (as a society) do it (electric fences, anti-bark devices, etc.); every ‘small’ concession we allow (usually out of laziness and for convenience) is a slippery slope.

    1. “We” do not do it. I would never use such a horrible thing on anything. Nor would anyone with actual love for their animal. I get what you’re saying, but let’s not conflate what has been allowed to be normalized due to corporate greed and government manipulation, with what society as a whole is okay with. Most of what many feel is representative of society, is in actuality just a propaganda construct of social engineers.

      1. I still think we should have some accountability, because sometimes humanity lets its foot off the gas pedal during certain events. Also twitter has become a conglomeration of absolute confusion(for the average person), you combine that with the system you mentioned where 75% of americans live paycheck to paycheck, it’s definitely a steep hill to climb for the average person. I remember last week seeing a doctor compare the number of vaccine-induced myocarditis(VAERS) in teenagers(3 weeks) and comparing them to the number of hospitalizations of teenagers in 2021(4.5 months), and using that completely wonky data as an excuse to vaccinate 21 yo and younger. Also RFK JR. recently had a post on VAERS, and not once has anyone raised any questions regarding mandatory vaccinations. Honestly if the media truly cared they would at least ask the Fed Gov if they can eliminate legal immunity, but these guys aren’t even acting like they care. The biggest thing though is the largest so-called “anti-vax” group are actually Gen Z people.

Also can’t find the other article, but I believe Portugal quietly reduced its COVID death count by around 80% recently.

      2. I am ABSOLUTELY not any more ‘okay’ with electric dog fences than I am with abortion, but many of my neighbors use these devices. What we allow DOES end up defining our society; that was my point.

    2. The idea of “slippery slope” is a well known logical fallacy. Electric shocks can be a good thing too. Shocks to keep muscles in good condition when the person or body part can not move. Shocks to reset a persons heart. Electric fencing is safer than barbed wire. Shock collars are a poor substitute for proper training, but can prevent neighbors from shooting a loud barking dog. Some women(mostly) use electric shocks to burn away unwanted hair. Likely there are more examples.

  2. During the first 300 years of the Republic, dictators were often called on when Rome faced an invasion or some internal danger. Unlike the dictators of the 20th century—such as Adolf Hitler in Germany or Augusto Pinochet in Chile—the dictatorship was limited to six months or even less if the crisis passed. Pandemic publishing: Medical journals strongly speed up their publication process for COVID-19
    Abstract
In times of public crises, including the current COVID-19 pandemic, rapid dissemination of relevant scientific knowledge is of paramount importance. The duration of scholarly journals’ publication process is one of the main factors that may hinder quick delivery of new information. Following initiatives of medical journals to accelerate their publication process, this study assesses whether medical journals have managed to speed up their publication process for coronavirus-related articles. It studies the duration of 14 medical journals’ publication processes both during and prior to the current pandemic. Assessing 669 articles, the study concludes that medical journals have indeed strongly accelerated their publication process for coronavirus-related articles since the outbreak of the pandemic: The time between submission and publication has decreased on average by 49%. The largest decrease in number of days between submission and publication of articles was due to a decrease in time required for peer review. For articles not related to COVID-19, no acceleration of the publication process is found. While the acceleration of the publication process is laudable from the perspective of quick information dissemination, it also may raise concerns relating to the quality of the peer review process and of the resulting publications.
    Are medical journals profit based:
The vast majority of scientific and medical journals are owned by five for-profit corporations, as the NEJM points out: “The five largest publishing houses (SAGE, Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley-Blackwell, and Taylor & Francis) continue to grow, with high profit margins.” – https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevensalzberg/2019/04/01/nejm-says-open-access-publishing-has-failed-right/?sh=27621e3d6a44
Funding bias, also known as sponsorship bias, funding outcome bias, funding publication bias, and funding effect, refers to the tendency of a scientific study to support the interests of the study’s financial sponsor. This phenomenon is recognized sufficiently that researchers undertake studies to examine bias in past published studies. – Wikipedia.org

  5. Climate change as a factor in considering infectious disease:
The calendar of epidemics: Seasonal cycles of infectious diseases
    Introduction
Seasonal cyclicity is a ubiquitous feature of acute infectious diseases [1] and may be a ubiquitous feature of human infectious diseases in general, as illustrated in Tables 1–4. Each acute infectious disease has its own seasonal window of occurrence, which, importantly, may vary among geographic locations and differ from other diseases within the same location. Here we explore the concept of an epidemic calendar, which is the idea that seasonality is a unifying feature of epidemic-prone diseases and, in the absence of control measures, the local calendar can be marked by epidemics (Fig 1). A well-known example of a calendar marked by epidemics is that of the Northern Hemisphere, where influenza outbreaks occur each winter [2, 3] (hence the colloquial reference to winter as “the flu season”). In contrast, chickenpox outbreaks peak each spring [4, 5], and polio transmission historically occurred each summer. – https://journals.plos.org/plospathogens/article?id=10.1371/journal.ppat.1007327
[I used to buy fully into the global warming narrative until I discovered how it seems most scientists involved in climate change science are ignoring the fact that space weather plays a major role in planetary weather. Of course climate (or seasonal) change affects bacteria and virus populations and transmission rate the real question is how exactly?]

    1. Vitamin D is stored in fat but runs out during winter, assuming you got some sun during the summer, and assuming you do not have a supplemental source for the winter. That is one big factor. Another may be the temperature and humidity which may influence the viability of virus particles…assuming virus are what scientists think.

  6. I wish you could somehow dial down the 90mph incredulity, reversing and repeating things, going forward (a little) then off on this or that tangent, anticipating potential objections, so that I am worn out just trying to follow the ping pong ball of whatever (worthwhile, important) point you’re making. I think you can trust the audience to either get it or not, and just calmly report on the topics that appear in the header. You, the content and your platform are great, and I’m a subscriber and I’m dying to listen but I cant for more than 10 minutes before my nerves are shot and I have to turn it off. Then again it might just be me.

    1. lol ten minutes is pretty good. To your point, I don’t know whether to be fascinated or frustrated with the show sometimes. I look at it this way: this is Ryan’s style. It’s like Glenn Gould playing Bach…super fast but it’s his style. If Ryan was spinning his wheels, or just going fast for the hell of it, than I would agree with you…however, he covers a tremendous amount of material, in a world where people don’t have all day. IMO he’s a trailblazer with a very appropriate, helpful and endearing gimmick.

      1. You’re right Andy, in retrospect I wasn’t feeling on top of the world that day and over-reacted. I do really appreciate Ryan putting himself out there to present information that is so important right now. I agree that his style is unique and endearing. And, old enough to be his grandma, I know I’m not his target audience 🙂 I’ll always support him.

  7. One correction …
When you say PCR CT of 28 or less is used for breakthrough cases, that is ONLY for samples being sent in for genetic sequencing. CT below 28 ensures sufficient virus is in the sample to allow for sequencing. They do not appear to have a different CT standard for breakthrough case identification. They moved the page and I can’t find the passage, but I have seen it with my own eyes.

  8. Ryan, you’re right, Fauci isn’t the “head of the snake” but he certainly plays a role as you have pointed out so many times. His emails, though, show his readiness to control the “engineered, man-made” aspect of sars-cov2 discussions. That is what Kristen Anderson, Fauci’s colleague, found in initial study… “1% appears engineered”… Waaaay more serious than “lab leak”. That correspondence is what set off a flurry of emails and damage control sessions (Jan. 31- Feb. 1, 2020). Those emails show an intent to misdirect honest inquiry, labeling it “conspiracy theory”. It has now been re-framed as a “lab leak”… (ooopsies). It’s much easier to forgive an accident than it is to forgive several conscious leaks at different times and in different places of a man-made bio-weapon.

  9. Perhaps through a lense of terrain theory, winter flu’s increase when we spend more time indoors, rather than outside in the good ole open air and sun.
