Welcome to The Daily Wrap Up, a concise show dedicated to bringing you the most relevant independent news, as we see it, from the last 24 hours (6/6/18).
It simply baffles me how so many can allow themselves to forget, or maybe simply choose to ignore, all that we have discovered about past actions of the government and those in power, and their abuses therein. As well as all that continues to be revealed with time, and all that has been acknowledged and proven, such as the knowing and willful fabrication of “WMDs in Iraq.” Yet so many still seemingly make the conscious choice to once again trust the government at its word, today. Even while many of the very same people involved in that egregious lie — which was responsible for taking the lives of thousands of Americans and over half a million Iraqis — are currently part of the Trump administration. Regardless of whatever justification some may have for taking them at their word, which makes them feel the situation is somehow different now, should we not at least consider that they might be misleading us once again with their excuses for war in Syria, or any other location that has now fallen under the crosshairs of the US war machine? Of course we should.
A healthy skepticism and constant questioning of the actions of those in power is quite literally the foundation on which this country was built. Yet those in power today would have you believe that nothing short of unwavering dedication and blind support is worthy of the American title, in fact, anything less is un-American. However, this was exactly the manipulation used to quiet the dissident voices of those who spoke out while the invasion of Iraq was underway, and they did so knowing full well that those showing doubt were right to do so.
Still, many concede to the programing once again today, even though with the power of hindsight, we can see that those who were shouted down with calls of “conspiracy theorist” or “Saddam apologist” or “un-American,” by the very media and politicians who we now know were lying, were right to be expressing their doubt. So what is it that causes so many to ignore this justifiable cause for concern in regard to history repeating itself today? Especially with so many obvious examples of just how one-sided our justice system has become, and just how much those in power get away with, and allow to go unpunished.
Whether we are talking about the ability of the elite to kill, lie, cheat and steal with impunity, or the willingness of our politicians to ignore the illegal and detrimental actions of the major corporations that line their pockets, the intrinsically destructive nature of US foreign policy, despite its incessant claims to the contrary, or the way the ruling oligarchy blatantly disregards the disgustingly obvious human rights violations of its allies while manufacturing lies about crimes far less severe committed by its enemies in order to wage illegal wars in the name of liberation, yet killing the very people they feign to be fighting to protect, the same question comes to my mind day after day…
How can this still be allowed, accepted, justified, with all that we know, with all we that has been admitted? How can so many turn a blind eye to such depravity, such pure malicious hatred and profiteering?
Many do so out of fear, or convenience, while a select few do so out of blind subservience to that which they have convinced themselves is the best we’ve got in a world falsely perceived to be overflowing with external threats. Well I simply will not believe that represents most people; I refuse to accept that the majority sees such obvious crime, deception, corruption and human suffering, and feels good about it.
So, as I have so many times in the past, I end today by asking all of you out there who agree that change is possible, that there is a better way, to take action in your daily life, even in small ways that only effect your immediate surroundings; to share this message; to fight for the goodness that is out there, and gently plant this seed of reality in the minds of those who look away when confronted by the truth. As long as we keep fighting, keep standing when others remain seated, and refuse to be cowed by fear of the unknown, change will always be possible.
Please take the information discussed in the video below and research for yourself, and come to your own conclusions. As anyone telling you what the truth is, or claiming they have the answer, is likely leading you astray, for one reason or another. Stay Vigilant.
